Drawing Near to God in a Busy Life
At times, we feel less committed to our faith. In those moments, it's essential to remember that God always invites us back into a deeper relationship with Him. A powerful verse to reflect on is: “Come near to God and He will come near to you.” — James 4:8
This promise encourages us to take even the smallest step toward God, knowing that He is ready and eager to draw near to us in return.
In the midst of academic responsibilities, social life, and personal goals, it's easy to lose sight of spiritual priorities. Yet, Jesus reminds us of the importance of putting God first in all we do: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” — Matthew 6:33
When we place God at the center of our lives, He faithfully provides for our needs and leads us on the right path.
Spiritual growth doesn’t happen by accident—it requires intentionality. One of the Bible’s key principles for spiritual focus is found in: “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Stillness may feel like a luxury in a hectic schedule, but even brief pauses can create space for spiritual renewal.
Here are a few ways you can intentionally make time for God, even in a packed routine:
1. Schedule Time with God
Just like classes or study sessions, set aside specific times for prayer and Bible reading. Treat this as a non-negotiable appointment with God.
2. Start Small
If you’re new to daily devotions, begin with just 5–10 minutes a day. As your habit grows, you’ll find yourself naturally wanting to spend more time in His presence.
3. Pray Throughout the Day
Use short prayers during breaks, while walking to class, or work or just commuting. Scripture says: “Pray continually.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17
This verse encourages a lifestyle of ongoing conversation with God, not just isolated moments.
4. Join a Community
Fellowship with other believers can strengthen your walk. Whether it’s a local church, students fellowship, or Bible study group, community keeps your faith grounded and growing.
You don’t have to be perfect to return to God—you just need to take the first step. He is always near and willing to walk with you, even through the busiest seasons of life. May these reminders inspire you to keep God at the center of your journey, trusting that He will lead, provide, and sustain you every step of the way.
